Vincent Dance Theatre is sharing its new HOME TRUTHS multi-screen film installation and engagement activities in ARCADIA GALLERY in November, we would love to hear what you have to say.
Drawing from VDT’s productions IN LOCO PARENTIS (2020) and ART OF ATTACHMENT (2018), HOME TRUTHS is the result of Vincent’s collaboration with care-experienced young people and women in recovery from substance misuse and domestic violence, performing alongside VDT’s familiar professional performers.
Made over the course of 2 years, HOME TRUTHS explores notions of home, family and belonging, providing a platform to reflect on the lived experience of adverse childhood experiences and the impact of trauma.
HOME TRUTHS multi-screen film installation offers a space to hear the voices of those who are often unheard and to consider the emotional labour involved by family intervention practitioners, parents, carers and support workers associated with the communities represented in the work.
Directed by Charlotte Vincent / Filmed and Edited by Bosie Vincent/ Composer Jules Maxwell
The work in HOME TRUTHS has been supported by Wellcome Trust & by academic collaborator Dr Cath Lambert, Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology at the University of Warwick. HOME TRUTHS has been funded by an ESRC Impact Acceleration Award and is supported by the Centre for the Study of Women and Gender at the University of Warwick. VDT is and NPO organisation funded by Arts council England.
